Nedu decries inflation, says millions of Nigerians are suffering

By Damilola Akinwale –

Media personality Nedu Emmanuel has called on the Nigerian government to address the country’s worsening economic situation, saying millions of Nigerians are struggling to make ends meet.

Nedu, who spoke in a video shared on his Instagram page on Saturday, questioned how much an average Nigerian needs to earn to maintain a decent standard of living. He cited the rising cost of basic necessities amid persistent inflation in the country.

According to him, less than two per cent of Nigerians earn up to ₦200,000 monthly, highlighting the financial pressure workers face. He added that despite persistent inflation, workers’ salaries remain stagnant, making it difficult for them to meet their basic needs.

The media personality also questioned whether earning ₦100,000 or ₦200,000 monthly was enough to cover basic expenses amid rising transportation costs and the increasing prices of goods and services.

Although he acknowledged that official statistics indicated a decline in the country’s inflation rate, he noted that the development had not translated into a significant reduction in the prices of goods and services.

“It only means prices are reducing slowly, while life gets harder for millions of Nigerians,” he explained.
