Organisers postpone 18th Headies Award to April 2027

The organisers of the Headies Awards have postponed the 18th edition of the ceremony from October 23, 2026, to April 10 and 11, 2027.
The event, initially scheduled to hold in Toronto, Canada, will now take place over two days as part of an expanded programme of activities in Nigeria and Canada.
In a statement shared on its official Instagram page on Saturday, the organisers said the postponement would allow them to broaden activities leading up to the main ceremony in Toronto.
“The road to the 18th Headies continues,” the statement read, adding that the organisers were expanding the programme in both countries ahead of the Toronto finale.
The organisers also disclosed that activities planned for the original period would still take place, while further details would be communicated through their official channels.
They apologised to guests who had already made travel plans and other arrangements, expressing regret over the inconvenience caused by the change in date.
The Headies returned to Nigeria in 2024 after two consecutive editions in the United States. The 16th edition was held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia, the same venue that hosted the 15th edition.
Established in 2006, the Headies has grown into one of Africa’s prominent music award ceremonies, recognising outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry.
