New APC chairman Nentawe promises inclusive, people-focused leadership

By Kunle Sanni –
Newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yilwatda Nentawe, has pledged to lead the party with a focus on unity, inclusivity, and people-centered governance, vowing to reposition the APC for greater national relevance and electoral success.
Speaking at the party’s 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, on Thursday, Nentawe expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, APC governors, lawmakers, and NEC members for entrusting him with the leadership. He described the appointment as a “burden of trust” and promised not to take it for granted.
“Let me thank you for picking me among millions of members of this party, and that the party will see me good enough and responsible enough to take this party to the next level,” he said.
Nentawe, a former APC governorship candidate in Plateau State, vowed to build a stronger, more unified party, adding that the APC must be seen as a “vehicle” driven by dedicated party members to achieve collective national goals.
“I want to accept it with gratitude and with my full heart and mind to work together with you to build the party, knowing that all of us here are the mechanics of the party and the party is our vehicle. I’ll fix it and move it to our destination of choice,” he stated.
He emphasised inclusivity, grassroots engagement, and cooperation as key strategies to expand the party’s reach, adding that he would work with all stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
“I pledge without hesitation that I will work with everybody in the party — unite the party, build the party, expand the party — with you as the focus and the building block,” he said.
Nentawe also reaffirmed his commitment to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, promising to align the party’s mission with national aspirations and deliver leadership that serves all Nigerians.
