The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed heartfelt condolences to Super Eagles’ goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali following the loss of his father on Friday, 15th November 2024.

Nwabali, who is based in South Africa, shared the sad news on his Instagram page earlier that morning. The announcement came just a day after Nwabali played a key role in securing Nigeria’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations during their match in Abidjan.

Reacting to the news, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, described the development as deeply saddening. “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the demise of Stanley Nwabali’s father.

“Coming a day after the player featured in the match that won us the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations ticket, it dampened our spirits as we traveled from Abidjan to Uyo,” he said.

He added, “The death of a parent is always a moment of profound sorrow. However, we urge Stanley to find comfort in the fruitful and impactful life his father lived. We pray that the Almighty grants his father eternal rest and provides Stanley and his family the strength to bear this immense loss.”
