With the date for the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers fast approaching, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is not leaving anything to chance in ensuring that Nigeria’s flag is hoisted at the mundial.

One of the steps being taken by the football governing body is a planned meeting with players and officials of the Super Eagles.

According to information, the players and officials of the Super Eagles are scheduled to convene for a meeting with the NFF to strategize for the successful execution of the remaining 2026 World Cup qualifiers in September.

With Super Eagles’ skipper, William Troost-Ekong, holding a programme tagged “Play for Purpose”, a celebrity charity event billed for this Saturday, the NFF has decided to make use of the opportunity to meet the players, since most of them are expected to grace the event.

The planned meeting, according to an official of the NFF, will take place either during or before Troost-Ekong’s event, which is scheduled to hold at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

The Troost-Ekong Foundation (TEF) event, which will unite some of Africa’s most prominent figures in sports and entertainment, aims to raise awareness and generate funds for TEF’s ongoing youth development initiatives in education, healthcare, and grassroots sports.

“This event will provide an opportunity for the federation and the players to discuss the remaining World Cup qualifiers, which the Super Eagles must win to secure qualification for the championship after missing out on the last edition in Qatar.”

“We met with the players during the friendlies in England and Russia, but with most of the players arriving in Lagos for the Ekong game, the NFF sees it as an opportunity to ensure that everyone is aligned for the challenges that lie ahead,” stated the NFF official.
