Nigeria confirmed for FIFAe Nations League 2026

Nigeria has been officially confirmed as one of the participating nations for the 2026 FIFAe Nations League, following the release of qualified countries by world football governing body FIFA.

The upcoming season will feature competitions across three divisions: eFootball (console), eFootball (mobile), and Rocket League.

According to FIFA, 115 countries secured qualification in the console category, 81 in mobile, and 84 in Rocket League. Nigeria earned places in all three divisions, underlining the country’s growing presence in global esports football.

The confirmation gives Nigeria a renewed opportunity to compete on the international stage after falling short of a place at the 2025 FIFAe World Cup in Saudi Arabia, where the team exited at the quarter-final stage following a defeat to South Africa.

Meanwhile, attention remains on FIFA’s pending decision regarding a petition filed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) against the Fédération Congolaise de Football Association over alleged player eligibility issues during their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff encounter. DR Congo prevailed on penalties to advance to the intercontinental playoffs.

Should FIFA rule in Nigeria’s favour, the Super Eagles could be reinstated into the playoff stage.

For now, however, Nigeria’s confirmed participation in the FIFAe Nations League provides a significant boost to the country’s ambitions within the rapidly expanding esports landscape.
