Nigeria, Egypt sign MoU on defence industry cooperation

The federal government of Nigeria and the Arab Republic of Egypt have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation in the defence industry.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Defence Ship House in Abuja, following a brief visit by the Egyptian delegation to the office of the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ibrahim Kana, signed on behalf of Nigeria, while the Assistant Minister of Defence of Egypt, Major General Walid Hamouda, signed for Egypt.
The MoU aims to promote deeper bilateral and defence cooperation in line with the prevailing laws and regulations of both countries.
Kana expressed optimism that the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and Egypt would foster enduring cooperation. He noted that Nigeria has benefited significantly from Egypt in areas such as intelligence sharing and training.
Earlier, Major General Walid Hamouda, the leader of the Egyptian delegation, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to sign the MoU. He assured Nigeria of his country’s full commitment to adhere to the terms outlined in the agreement and appreciated the existing cordial relationship between Egypt and Nigeria.
