Reactions continue to trail the draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), held Monday night in Rabat, Morocco.

The draw placed the Super Eagles in Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania, prompting notable Nigerians to share their opinions on the team’s chances in the group and the tournament as a whole.

Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo and the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, both expressed optimism about Nigeria’s chances of lifting the trophy in Morocco.

Another ex-international, Mutiu Adepoju, has also lent his voice, echoing the sentiments of Yobo and Gusau.

The “Headmaster,” as the former Flying Eagles and Super Eagles forward is fondly called, stated that Nigeria has what it takes to become African champions for the fourth time.

The former Shooting Stars player and later General Manager said: “Given the level of our players, their outing at the last AFCON, where they came close to winning the trophy, and the great things they are doing with their various clubs in Europe presently, I am confident that we have a team that can compete favorably and perhaps win the trophy for the fourth time in Morocco,” declared the Super Eagles legend.

Before the draw ceremony, Super Eagles Head Coach Éric Sékou Chelle remarked: “Nigeria has a good crop of players globally, and we believe we are up to the task.”
