Nigeria, MTN discuss telecoms’ role in $1trn economy

The government of Nigeria is collaborating with MTN Group to champion the telecommunication’s sector role in President Bola Tinubu’s $1trillion economy.

The Minister of Communication, Innovation and Technology, Dr. Bosun Tijani, in a meeting with Ralph Mupita, President/CEO of MTN Group, Karl Toriola, CEO of MTN Nigeria, and other MTN executives to discuss the strategic development of Nigeria’s telecoms sector.

The discussion highlighted the critical role of a strong, reliable, and future-ready telecoms sector in achieving Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy target.

Also, all parties agreed on the urgent need to improve telecoms service delivery for Nigerians nationwide.

Part of the key points discussed was that emphasis should be placed on ensuring long-term sustainability and innovation in the telecoms industry through continued collaboration between the Federal Government and MTN.

The Minister, however, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to engaging with MTN to drive sector growth and digital transformation in Nigeria.
