By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo

The Catholic Diocese of Osogbo in Osun State has stated that Nigeria needs a leader that will position it on the right direction that will bring about the desired progress.

The Director, Social Communication Commission of the diocese, Rev. Fr. Anthony Omodunbi stated this while speaking with newsmen on the state of the nation in Osogbo on Wednesday.

He noted that Nigeria is retrogressing with the challenging situation being faced everyday.

Omodunbi maintained that the country needs somebody that will first position it on the pedestal where it can start making progress.

His words: “We are really not making progress. I think progress is moving forward but in our situation, we are retrogressing. At the moment, we are not facing the direction at all.

“What Nigeria needs is somebody that will first position us on the pedestal where we will start to make progress. If progress direction is north, we need someone who will turn us towards the north and overtime when we keep moving, we now say we are progressing but if we keep looking south war,d then the challenge will continue to be enormous.”

The cleric charged Nigerians to vote rightly during the upcoming elections by putting the right persons at the helms of affairs.
