Nigeria to face World Cup debutants Jordan in friendly

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face FIFA World Cup debutants Jordan in March, according to Afrik-Foot.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reportedly reached an agreement with the Jordanian Football Association to stage two friendly matches in the capital city, Amman. The games are scheduled to be played between March 23 and 31.

The fixtures will serve as preparation for the Asian side, who will be participating in the World Cup for the first time. Recall that the Arab nation defeated Oman 3-0 on June 5, 2025, to secure qualification for the 2026 finals, and they will be aiming to make an impact at the tournament.

The friendlies also come as the Super Eagles await FIFA’s ruling on their World Cup protest, with a decision yet to be announced.

Jordan are coached by Moroccan tactician Jamal Sellami, who has impressed since his appointment in June 2024.

The Super Eagles are expected to enter the fixtures as favourites given their superior depth and experience. Most of the Jordanian players ply their trade domestically, and the team lacks the global stars featured by several other nations set to compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
