Nigeria to host Africa Road Running Conference as NSC sets up committee

Nigeria is set to host the World Athletics Africa Road Running Conference, with the National Sports Commission (NSC) constituting an Organizing Committee led by Chief Solomon Ogba, First Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).

The committee comprises seasoned sports administrators and professionals from both the sports industry and corporate sector.

NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, emphasized that the committee members were carefully selected based on their professionalism and proven track record. He expressed confidence in their ability to deliver a world-class event — the first of its kind in Nigeria.

“The members of the committee were meticulously selected because of their professionalism and tested qualities, and I have no doubt they will bring their wealth of experience to bear,” Dikko said.

Director General of the NSC, Honourable Bukola Olopade, said the event represents a significant step in rebranding Nigeria’s sports development efforts and will pave the way for more international events in the country.

“This is another milestone for refocusing and resetting our sports developmental goals, and I have no doubt we have picked a good team for a successful hosting,” Olopade noted.
