The Federal Government is set to sign over 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) as Nigeria hosts the second session of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM), beginning Monday.

Key sectors expected to benefit from the agreements include agriculture, energy, defence, the creative economy, and innovation, in line with the Tinubu administration’s efforts to attract investment and deepen technical cooperation.

At a press briefing at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, described the visit of the Brazilian delegation, led by Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, as a major milestone for Nigeria’s foreign relations and economic diplomacy.

He stated that the three-day dialogue aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes economic revitalization and strategic global partnerships.

Also speaking, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, noted that the bilateral mechanism, first launched in 2013, gained renewed momentum after President Tinubu’s official visit to Brazil in late 2024.

She announced that a Nigeria-Brazil Business Forum will be held on June 25, bringing together public and private sector leaders to explore opportunities across markets with a combined population of over 400 million.

In the agriculture sector, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, revealed that MoUs will cover research in animal genetics, soybean production, and other key areas. He added that the SDM will also fast-track the $4.5 billion Green Imperative Programme, which aims to establish agricultural project offices in all 774 local government areas.
