Nigerian Army, local hunters foil Boko Haram attack in Yobe

Troops from Operation Hadin Kai and local hunters have successfully thwarted a Boko Haram plot to blow up high tension electric pylons near Kasesa Village, just outside Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
This development was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Sunday.
According to Makama, intelligence sources revealed that the planned attack was averted on July 6, 2024, after the 27 Task Force Brigade received information about the terrorists’ intentions.

The terrorists, reportedly traveling in an ash-colored Toyota Corolla, aimed to destroy the critical infrastructure.
In response, Makama narrated that the Nigerian army troops and local hunters swiftly mobilized and set an ambush in Kasesa Village. One team of three troops established a blocking position at Kurnari, while others blocked Maileri Village.
As they approached the targeted pylons, a firefight ensued with the terrorists, who eventually fled, abandoning their vehicle. The vehicle, found with two damaged tires and stained with blood, indicated injuries among the fleeing terrorists.
He added that a search of the abandoned vehicle uncovered eight improvised explosive devices (IEDs) with detonating cords and a trade test card belonging to one Emmanuel Adamu.

According to the analyst, despite further efforts by the troops, no additional contact with the terrorists was made.
The Army also revealed that the recovered items are now in the custody of the 27 Task Force Brigade for further investigation.
