The Nigerian military has praised Kwara State for its sustained investments in security and economic development, describing it as one of the most peaceful states in the country.
This commendation was made by Colonel Usman Hashim Muhammed, the lead officer of Senior Course 47 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, during a study tour to Kwara State on Tuesday.
“Kwara State is one of the most peaceful states, but this fact does not mean we should relent. It only means more effort is needed to sustain and improve the peace,” Col. Muhammed said.
The delegation was received by senior government officials, including the representative of the Secretary to the State Government and Permanent Secretary of General Services, Abdulganiy Yita; Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Alhaji Bashir Adigun; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Alhaji Muyideen Aliyu; Senior Special Assistant on Religion (Christianity), Rev. Timothy Akangbe; and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye.
During the visit, SSA on Security, Muyideen Aliyu, outlined the state government’s security strategy, which includes substantial support for security agencies and community engagement through traditional rulers, religious institutions, and vigilante groups.
In his remarks, Alhaji Adigun emphasized the vital role of local communities in strengthening the state’s security architecture and lauded the military’s contributions to national internal security.
Moderating the interactive session, Rafiu Ajakaye highlighted how the administration has increased the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from N30.6 billion in 2019 to N69.1 billion in 2024 — a 125.82% increase — attributing the success to reforms, automation, leak-prevention measures, and strategic expansion of the taxpayer base.
