Nigeria’s topflight league goes on break

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) board has announced a mid-season break following the completion of the first round of matches.
The break, which will last three weeks, will also coincide with the opening of the transfer window, scheduled from January 6 to February 5, 2025.
The league is set to resume on January 25, 2025, with the commencement of the second round of matches.
At the end of the first round, Remo Stars sit at the top of the table with 36 points, followed closely by Rivers United in second place with 34 points. Shooting Stars currently occupy third position with 33 points.
