NITDA, NACCIMA rally support for digital infrastructure drive

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has emphasised that expanding digital infrastructure is critical to Nigeria’s industrialisation agenda, describing technology as a key driver of economic growth and national development.
The agency made this known at the maiden edition of the Nigeria Infrastructure Conference (INFRACON 2026), organised by the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) in Abuja with the theme, “Mobilising Private Capital for Sustainable Infrastructure Development in Nigeria.”
Speaking at the conference, NITDA Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, stressed the need for increased investment in infrastructure and the integration of digital technology into conventional infrastructure to strengthen Nigeria’s industrial capacity.
According to him, integrated infrastructure is essential for sustainable growth, resilient urban development and improved quality of life in an increasingly digital world.
“We cannot talk about infrastructure without digital infrastructure. All organisations and industries are becoming digital, and technology is increasingly integrated. There is a need to embed digital infrastructure into the conventional infrastructure we are building,” Inuwa said.
He commended the Federal Government for encouraging greater private sector participation in infrastructure development through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), assuring that NITDA is ready to collaborate with NACCIMA and other stakeholders to accelerate the country’s digital transformation.
“The government has created opportunities for the private sector to participate in infrastructure development through PPPs. NITDA will support efforts to build Nigeria’s digital infrastructure, and we are already working with NACCIMA on the digitalisation of its operations,” he added.
In his welcome address, NACCIMA President, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, described INFRACON 2026 as a strategic platform for mobilising private capital, innovative ideas and partnerships to address Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit.
