Nnamani resigns from PDP after losing senate election to LP

Former Enugu State Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Nnamami, who was the candidate of the party in Saturday’s rescheduled senatorial election in Enugu east senatorial district, lost to Labour Party’s Kelvin Chukwu.

The senator announced his resignation from the PDP in a statement on Monday, saying consultations with his constituents and associates informed his decision to quit the PDP.

He said he has moved on and hopes that his “modest contributions” to the development of his constituency would be the building blocks for his successor.

Nnamani had earlier been expelled from the PDP after declaring his support for President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu before the presidential election.

Nnamani added that he “will continue to partner with Tinubu”.

“A Tinubu administration will promote good governance, rule of law and human rights for the interest of all Nigerians,” he said.

He also thanked Nigerians, “especially the Ebeano political family”, and urged them to remain steadfast in the years ahead.
