Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport welcomes inaugural direct flight from Algiers

Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, received the inaugural direct flight from Algiers, operated by Air Algérie, according to a post by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on their official Facebook page.

The Air Algérie Boeing 737 aircraft, with registration number 7T-VJR, landed at 16:05hrs, carrying dignitaries from the Nigerian Embassy in Algiers and officials of the Algerian government.

The historic flight was received by Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana mni, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation, alongside His Excellency Mezoued Hosine, Algerian Ambassador to Nigeria, and Alhaji Gambo Aboki, Regional General Manager (North) of FAAN.

FAAN noted that Air Algérie will operate direct flights between Abuja and Algiers twice weekly, a development expected to deepen bilateral ties, enhance trade, and promote tourism between Nigeria and Algeria.
