The leadership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kwara State said some aides newly appointed by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq were not members of the party.
In a statement jointly signed by the party’s Chairman, AbdulSalam AbdulRazaq and Secretary, Abdullahi Nasamu in Ilorin, the party said the appointment were not routed through its leadership, adding that as such, there was no nomination or input from the state executive members.
The statement added that the NNPP in Kwara State has not collapsed its structure with APC or any political party.
“The state leaders of the party observed that the persons who benefited from the appointment are ‘Talban group’ members and not NNPP card carrier.
“The party noted that moves by the former gubernatorial candidate of the party was a man arrangement and not in the interest of the party,” the statement said.
The party noted that in the built up to the just concluded general elections, there were negotiations from different contestants and parties to join forces with them which the party turned down as it has a focus.
It called on Governor AbdulRazaq to lift the ban on local government election as soon as possible, noting that it is fully prepared to field candidates across the 16 local government areas of the state.
“NNPP in Kwara is not collapsing its structure with APC or any political party. We remain focussed and also calling on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to lift ban on local government election as soon as possible as NNPP is fully prepared to field candidates in all the 16 local government areas of the state,” it added.
It would be recalled that few hours after the gubernatorial election in the state, Governor AbdulRazaq appointed some opposition party members whose flagbearers either defected or endorsed his candidacy.
