No fees required for excursions on Lagos rail or transport facilities – LAMATA

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has clarified that it does not charge any fees for school or group excursions on its infrastructure, including the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) services.
In a statement on Thursday, Kolawole Ojelabi, LAMATA’s Head of Corporate Communications, warned schools, educational institutions, and organised groups to be wary of fraudulent individuals claiming there are charges or administrative fees for such visits.
LAMATA emphasised that approvals for excursions are completely free. Institutions wishing to organise trips must submit an official request letter to the Managing Director, detailing the proposed date, time, route, and number of participants. A formal approval letter from LAMATA management is required before the excursion to ensure proper logistics and safety.
The authority further warned that any demand for payment beyond standard Cowry Card fares should be treated as fraudulent, urging the public to ignore such requests and avoid dealing with unauthorised persons.
LAMATA reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and accessible transportation for all Lagos residents.
