‘No victor’ — Adeleke seeks support from main challenger after Osun guber win

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and other contestants in the August 15 election to set aside political differences and support his administration.

Adeleke, who secured a second term in office, made the appeal shortly after he was declared winner of the election, saying his victory should mark the beginning of reconciliation across the state.

The governor, who contested the election on the platform of the ACCORD party, described the outcome as a “no victor, no vanquished” situation and urged Oyebamiji to congratulate him.

He also asked his opponents and residents who voted against him to contribute ideas towards the development of the state.

“Yes, this is no victor, no vanquished. I want them to come over and I’m expecting Oyebamiji to even think as a civilised person, to call and congratulate me,” Adeleke said.

He said democracy allowed voters to make different choices, stressing that he would govern all residents irrespective of their political affiliations.

“As long as I’m the governor of Osun State, I’m a governor for all, vote for all parties,” he said.

Adeleke also appealed to residents to support his administration with ideas that could help accelerate development in the state.

“Please come around, give me your ideas so that we can join hands together and move Osun State forward,” he added.
