NOA commends EFCC over cybercrime crackdown, calls for vigilance

By Kunle Sanni –

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has praised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its recent successful operation against a sophisticated cybercrime syndicate in Nigeria.

The commendation was contained in a statement signed by Bala Musa, Director of Communication and Media at the NOA.

NOA Director-General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, described the EFCC’s action as a “strong statement” that Nigeria will not tolerate criminal activity, regardless of the nationality of those involved.

“As a sovereign nation committed to ethical standards and the rule of law, we must safeguard our national integrity and reputation in the global community,” Issa-Onilu said.

He stressed that Nigeria will not serve as a haven for criminal enterprises, warning that cybercriminals — both foreign and domestic — will face a vigilant and well-equipped law enforcement system.

The NOA boss reaffirmed the agency’s efforts to promote responsible citizenship and ethical conduct through the National Value Charter and nationwide sensitization campaigns.

He also urged citizens, community leaders, traditional rulers, schools, civil society groups, and the media to unite in fostering a culture of integrity and civic responsibility.

“We commend the EFCC for demonstrating decisive leadership,” Issa-Onilu added. “This is how nations are built — through collective accountability and firm adherence to the rule of law.”
