Nollywood mourns as Rotimi Raji passes on

The Nigerian film industry is in mourning following the passing of popular creative director Rotimi Raji, widely known as “Genius.”

According to multiple reports, Raji tragically passed away on February 15, 2025, at his residence in Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos.

Reports indicate that he collapsed in the bathroom and died.

Sources revealed that Raji, who lived alone, was discovered by a concerned neighbor who had gone to check on him. After calling his name several times without a response, the neighbor noticed an open window. Upon peering inside, he saw Raji lying motionless on the bathroom floor.

The neighbor raised an alarm and knocked on the door repeatedly, but there was no response. With the help of other neighbors, they forced the door open, confirming their worst fears: Rotimi Raji had passed away.

His body has since been taken to the mortuary, and the family is planning a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Rotimi Raji was celebrated for his remarkable storytelling, creativity, and significant contributions to Nollywood.

Some of his notable works include Bachelor’s Eve and American Playboy.
