Northern Governors, traditional rulers meet in Kaduna over power outage, insecurity

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, on Monday hosted a meeting of the Northern States Governors’ Forum with the Northern States traditional leaders, headed by the Sultan of Sokoto also present.

The meeting chaired by Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, the chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and the Governor of Gombe State, dwelled on issues of insecurity and power outages among others pressing matters.

Recent electricity blackouts have affected the northern parts of the country even as prolonged power outages, plunged parts of Kano and Kaduna into darkness.
The development has been attributed to vandalization of the Shiroro–Kaduna transmission lines 1 and 2.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has said it is working hard to restore electricity to affected areas after the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line, which supplies power to Northern Nigeria, was vandalized by insurgents.
