Northern youth group lauds senate, calls for inclusive representation

The Northern Christian Youth Professionals, a coalition of professionals from all the 19 states of Northern Nigeria, have commended the Senate, under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and his deputy, Senator Barau Jibril, for their decision to delay the confirmation of appointments to the Governing Board of the North West Development Commission (NWDC).
The group, in a statement, described the Senate’s action on November 19 as a commendable step towards promoting equity and fair representation in the region.
“We believe this decision was made in good faith to provide President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the opportunity to ensure that Christians are included on the board,” the group said.
The youth professionals urged President Tinubu to engage with Christian leaders and other stakeholders in the North West to identify credible and capable candidates for the board.
“Appointing the right individuals is essential, not just for the Christian community but for all citizens of the region,” the statement read. “Inclusive representation fosters unity and enhances the credibility of such an important institution.”
Expressing confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership style, the group highlighted his history of consultation and commitment to selecting competent individuals for public service.
“We trust in President Tinubu’s capacity to make decisions that reflect fairness and inclusivity,” they stated, while assuring him of their continued support as his administration works to improve the quality of life for all Nigerians.
The group also encouraged Nigerians to back the President’s efforts and policies aimed at fostering national development and improving living conditions across the country.
