With preparations in top gear for the kickoff of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, club owners have outlined key demands aimed at enhancing the league’s organization and safety standards.

In a communiqué issued at the end of an expanded meeting held recently in Abuja, the NPFL Club Owners Forum emphasized the urgent need for improved security arrangements at league match venues across the country.

The forum called on all State Football Associations to intensify efforts in ensuring the safety of players, officials, and fans during matches, noting that the responsibility for matchday security lies primarily within their jurisdiction.

The forum also expressed satisfaction with the leadership of the NPFL Club Owners’ Forum, led by Chief (Dr.) Okey Kpalukwu. In recognition of his contributions, the members unanimously passed a vote of confidence on his stewardship and the activities of the forum.

The communiqué highlighted a series of resolutions reached during the meeting, including the approval of proposed amendments to the NPFL Framework and Rules.

The amendments cover areas such as enhanced life and injury insurance schemes for players and officials, as well as improved post-match conference protocols designed to increase media engagement and professionalism in the league.

The forum also acknowledged the receipt and review of the proposed calendar for the 2025/2026 NPFL season. It urged all stakeholders to align their operations to ensure the smooth and timely implementation of the schedule.
