NPFL: Fireworks as teams battle for points

By Tosin Omojola –

Kano Pillars will begin life at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, their new home ground, following their banishment from the Sani Abacha Stadium as a result of the crowd violence that accompanied their matchday eight fixture against Shooting Stars.

The Sai Masugida will hope to make their new abode a fortress by starting with a win against Niger Tornadoes.

On Sunday, Rangers International will welcome Kwara United to the Cathedral, while Shooting Stars of Ibadan will be guests of struggling Wikki Tourists of Bauchi in a match that coach Abdul Maikaba’s lads will aim to win and grab all three points, having drawn 1-1 with Kwara United in their last home fixture.

Abia Warriors will hope to bounce back from last Sunday’s loss in Ibadan as they host FC Barau, while struggling Plateau United will face Enyimba FC, whose last two matches have ended in losses.

It is going to be a South-South derby in Ozoro, where Warri Wolves will play host to Bayelsa United, just as Kun Khalifat, who shocked Bayelsa United in Yenagoa last Sunday, will face Bendel Insurance of Benin at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.

Due to their involvement in continental engagements, matches involving both Rivers United and Remo Stars have been rescheduled, with Rivers United hosting Ikorodu City next Wednesday, while Remo Stars will play away to table-toppers Nasarawa United on November 5.
