NSC boss Olopade in Mauritius for strategic weightlifting talks

Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade, has arrived in Mauritius for a strategic meeting with the President of the Weightlifting Federation of Africa (WFA), Mr. Khaled Mehalhel.

The discussions aim to deepen Nigeria’s involvement in international weightlifting and explore opportunities to grow the sport domestically—focusing on athlete development, coaching capacity, and global representation.

Mr. Mehalhel, who also chairs the Development and Education Commission of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), plays a key role in shaping the sport’s future worldwide.

Olopade expressed confidence in the partnership, reaffirming the NSC’s commitment to building strong institutional ties and providing more platforms for Nigerian lifters to excel internationally.
