Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, has reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to sports development through partnerships with various organisations.
Mallam Dikko made this known while hosting a delegation from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), led by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed.
During the meeting, Dikko stated that the NSC was open to partnerships and collaborations aimed at achieving the President’s vision of advancing sports across the country.
“We believe in opening our doors and windows to see what we can do together to advance sports in this country. We also want to support sports so that organisations can do more,” he said.
Dikko praised the FRSC female handball team for their impressive performance at both national and continental levels, describing them as the “shining light” of the sport in Nigeria.
He reminded the Corps Marshal of the earlier agreement with the FRSC Sports Committee to establish a Joint Collaborating Committee to promote mutual relations that will foster sports development.
“We are being proactive and have made financial provisions in our budget to support any team or club that qualifies to represent Nigeria in any competition, especially if they win the domestic league,” Dikko noted.
Speaking earlier, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed said he visited the Commission to officially congratulate Dikko on his appointment and to explore avenues for partnership that would support the growth of the Corps’ sports teams.
