NSC leadership: NPFL boss hails President Tinubu

By Olaolu Joseph

The Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing technocrats to lead the National Sports Commission (NSC).

Speaking during a live television interview, Elegbeleye, a former Director General of the NSC, stated that while the replacement of the Sports Ministry with the NSC is noteworthy, the president’s decision to appoint qualified individuals to manage the commission is particularly commendable.

“Bringing back the NSC in place of the Sports Ministry is, to me, just a change in nomenclature, even though it is a welcome development.

“However, I think President Tinubu has done well by appointing those with a sports background to lead the commission, unlike in the past when people without relevant expertise were put in charge,” said the NPFL Chairman.

On the league, the former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports also praised the NFF for its full support of the NPFL management under his leadership.

He further assured stakeholders of an improved system in the administration of Nigeria’s top-flight football league.
