NSC, NTA enter partnership to enhance sports broadcasting

The National Sports Commission (NSC) recently hosted the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Comrade Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, who paid a courtesy visit to the NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and the Director-General, Honourable Bukola Olapade, to explore a collaborative partnership for the future development of sports broadcasting in Nigeria.

At the meeting, held at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Abuja, the NSC Chairman emphasized the need for collaboration between the NTA and the Commission to reach a wider audience and showcase the talents of Nigerian athletes.

He also highlighted the Commission’s recent successes, including the impressive performances of Nigerian athletes at international competitions.

The discussions focused on strategies to promote sports through television and other media platforms.

“With the combined efforts and resources of the NTA and the NSC, there is no doubt that Nigerian sports will reach even greater heights,” he said.

Mallam Dikko further stated that as sports continue to make strides in Nigeria, the NTA will play a vital role in amplifying the efforts of athletes to a wider audience. He added that their collaboration would not only bring glory to Nigeria on the world stage but also unite Nigerians through the power of sports.

The NSC Chairman affirmed that the visit by the NTA Director-General was a clear indication of both organizations’ commitment to working together for the advancement of sports in Nigeria.

“This collaboration will not only increase the visibility of Nigerian sports but also inspire a new generation of athletes to strive for excellence,” he said.

Speaking earlier, the NTA Director-General, Comrade Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, who was warmly received by the NSC leadership, commended the Commission for its efforts in promoting and developing sports in Nigeria.

He acknowledged the important role of sports in fostering unity among Nigerians and enhancing the country’s global image.

Dembos assured the Commission that the NTA has the necessary equipment and expertise to advance sports broadcasting and will remain committed to elevating Nigerian sports to greater heights.

In his remarks, NSC Director-General Hon. Bukola Olapade expressed gratitude for the visit and stressed the importance of media coverage in promoting sports. He emphasized the need for the NTA to showcase Nigerian athletes’ achievements and potential to the world.

Olapade expressed optimism about the collaboration’s success, describing it as a major step toward a more vibrant and thriving sports industry in Nigeria.
