The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command, has arrested two men suspected of raping minors in separate incidents within Akure, the state capital.

The command’s spokesman, SC Daniel Aidamenbor, disclosed this in a press release on Wednesday, saying both suspects had made confessional statements and would be charged to court.

In the first case, a 22-year-old farmer, Emeka Chidi Innocent, allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl at the SIB area in Igbatoro, Akure, on March 3, 2026 before fleeing after committing the act but was subsequently tracked and apprehended at Idanre, a town in the state.

In the second incident, a 38-year-old tiler, Ayodele John, allegedly defiled a 15-year-old girl inside her parents’ house on Oda Road, Akure, on April 13 and was arrested the following day.

Speaking on behalf of the State Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, Aidamenbor, said the command would charge the two men to court as a deterrent to would-be offenders, while seizing the opportunity to caution parents against complacency in the supervision of artisans with access to their homes and families.

“Parental duties should not be outsourced. In these cases, both suspects are known to the victims and their parents,” Aidamenbor warned.

The command further urged members of the public to report cases of sexual violence and other crimes to the nearest NSCDC office.
