The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday reunited Muhammed Fauziyah, a 400-level student of Kogi State University, Anyigba, with her family after her abduction.
Addressing journalists at the Command headquarters in Ilorin, the State Commandant, Dr. Umar Mohammed, revealed that investigations showed Fauziyah was abducted outside the university premises in Kogi State. However, the victim stated she could not recall how she ended up in Ilorin.
“Fauziyah was found wandering in the Egbejila area of Ilorin when concerned neighbors alerted community leaders, who promptly handed her over to the NSCDC,” Dr. Mohammed explained.
“Upon receiving her, we launched an investigation and confirmed her abduction in Kogi State. She somehow became stranded in Ilorin.”
Fauziyah has since been reunited with her uncle, Mallam Salihu Aliu, who expressed gratitude to the NSCDC for their swift action.
In another development, the Command paraded Abu Umar, a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate. Umar is accused of involvement in the abduction of Isiaka Halimah and her two sons, Kabir and Hassan Isiaka, on November 7, 2024, in the Gidanrogo area of Ajase-Ipo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Dr. Mohammed disclosed that Umar, a former worker for the victims’ family, was tracked and arrested after the kidnappers used his phone number to contact the family for ransom.
“The suspect is assisting us in tracking other members of the syndicate, who remain at large, and in securing the release of the victims,” he said.
