Nwoko rejects APC senatorial primary result, alleges lack of transparency

Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North, has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary in Delta State, describing the process as lacking transparency and fairness.

Nwoko made his position known in an interview with Arise Television, where he faulted the declaration of former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as winner of the primary.

He alleged that the result being circulated online reflected collation from only one ward out of 98 wards in the senatorial district, insisting that it did not represent the overall votes cast.

The senator called on the APC to release comprehensive ward-by-ward results, as well as documentary evidence, to validate the declared outcome.

“I wouldn’t accept it because I have a mandate by the people,” Nwoko said, insisting that he secured majority votes across the district.

He also said he defected to the APC based on assurances allegedly given by party leaders, including former National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, which he claimed included an automatic ticket and integration of defectors into the party structure.

According to him, those promises were not fulfilled, adding that he would challenge any outcome that does not reflect what he described as the genuine will of party members at the grassroots.

Nwoko maintained that he would not accept any decision upheld by the party leadership if it contradicts what he believes to be the true mandate of voters in the district.
