The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, has described the newly launched book “Know Oyo State” as a timeless tribute to the culture, history, and identity of Oyo State.

Speaking at the unveiling of the book authored by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, at the Emeritus Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, Ibadan, the monarch said the publication is more than just a literary work but a “powerful tribute to our shared heritage.”

“This book offers every son and daughter of Oyo State a renewed sense of identity, pride, and belonging. It beautifully captures the heart of who we are—our vibrant culture, iconic cities, historic landmarks, and the enduring spirit of our people,” Oba Ghandi said.

The monarch noted that the book goes beyond geography, presenting Oyo State as a living narrative—rich, dynamic, and deeply rooted—highlighting key cities like Ibadan, Ogbomoso, Oyo, Iseyin, and others.

Oba Olaoye commended Prince Oyelade for his commitment to cultural preservation, saying his work comes at a time when many are becoming disconnected from their roots.

“At a time when many drift from their origins, he has chosen to honor and celebrate them. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to students, educators, leaders, and every lover of culture and history,” the Soun said.

He urged residents to embrace the book’s message and take pride in the history of Oyo State, calling on stakeholders to draw inspiration from it to build a stronger and more united state.
