Obasa, Adaranijo in battle of wits over choice of Orile-Agege LCDA APC chairmanship candidate

There is strong indication that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship ticket in Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (OALCDA) of Lagos state would keenly be contested between two major power blocs.
Western Post gathered that one of the power blocs led by the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, is backing one Hon. Akinola Idowu while another power bloc led by a top APC grassroots leader, Chief Safari Adaranijo is rooting for Rasheed Adaranijo who is believed to be his son.
It was learnt that after Obasa had successfully persuaded APC leaders in Agege local government to support his own son, Abdulganiyu Obasa as APC Chairmanship candidate, he went ahead to push forward an aspirant for the party’s chairmanship ticket in Orile-Agege LCDA where he met resistance from Chief Adaranijo.
Chief Adaranijo was said to have vehemently rejected Obasa’s choice in Orile-Agege LCDA, claiming that since the Speaker had successfully push forward his own son in Agege LG, there is nothing wrong his own son, Rasheed gets the APC chairmanship ticket for the LCDA.
This, according to sources did not go down well with Obasa who said it would be better for both Akinola and Rasheed to go into primaries for the ticket.
Meanwhile, in Agege local government area, several support groups have begun to mobilise for Abdulganiyu as co-Chairmanship aspirants are gradually shelving their aspiration and collapsing their campaign groups for him. The current APC LGA Chairman, Tunde Disco was said to be penciled down as running mate to Obasa’s son while in Orile-Agege LCDA, one Muyiwa Likiyo is positioned to deputize Akinola if he scales through the primary election.
Political analysts argued that the struggle between the two power blocs for the APC chairmanship ticket in Orile-Agege LCDA would further determine whether Obasa still has the firm control of the two local governments.
With the guidelines rolled out by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) recently, political parties are expected to conduct primaries and present their chairmanship and councillorship candidates before the end of May.
