The University of Ibadan (UI) has matriculated 4,649 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The matriculation ceremony was held at the International Conference Centre of the institution in Ibadan on Wednesday.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, said 11,912 candidates sat for the post-UTME examination, having met the minimum benchmark of 200 points.

“Out of this number, 7,017 scored 50 per cent and above. A total of 4,411 students were admitted through UTME, while 238 gained admission through Direct Entry,” Adebowale said.

He explained that the students were offered provisional admission into the University of Ibadan through both UTME and Direct Entry.

The Vice-Chancellor charged the newly admitted students to be of good conduct, urging them to embrace discipline, uphold integrity, remain resilient, and contribute positively to the institution’s legacy.

In his matriculation speech, an alumnus of the university and industry expert, Mr. Olukayode Aiyenuyo, encouraged the students to align their academic journey with a clear sense of purpose.
