Ex-Lagos Speaker, Obasa lands in Abuja

Former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon.Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa has arrived Abuja Sunday evening.

Sources disclosed that Obasa flew into Abuja under the cover of the night, sitting quietly at the arrival hall

The impeached speaker was seen without his usual retinue of aides and security operatives at the arrival hall.

He was said to have arrived Abuja from The United Arab Emirates where he made a spirited but failed attempt to see President Bola Tinubu.

He flew to Atlanta, Georgia, United State on January 8 with some loyal lawmakers, and the former Clerk of the House, Mr Olalekan Onafeko (who was ousted alongside Obasa).

Obasa was said to have left all of them stranded at various locations around the globe while he fights for his own survival and in search of a soft landing.

It would be recalled that Obasa was impeached on Monday January 13 by 32 lawmakers out of 40.

A new Speaker, Rt (Hon) Mojisola Meranda (Apapa 1) was immediately elected.

It is not yet clear whether the impeached speaker would be able to see the President at the Aso Rock Villa after his failed attempt in Abu Dahbi last week.

Meanwhile, the new Speaker, Rt(Hon) Mojisola Meranda and her principal officers have consolidated power as they visited the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) members, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his cabinet.

Also, past Council Chairmen in the state have paid Meranda and the House courtesy visit to show support for the emergence of new leadership.
