Obasa’s impeachment is ‘karma in action,’ says General Olanrewaju

Retired Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju, former Minister of Communications and Alternate Chairman of the Board of Trustees of De Renaissance Patriots, has described the impeachment of Mudashiru Ajaiyi Obasa as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly as a clear example of the “Law of Karma.”
Olanrewaju stated that Obasa, originally from Ogun State, exceeded his political limits during his time in office. He recalled previously advising Obasa to step aside and allow a Lagos indigene to assume the position of Speaker during the 2023 legislative process, advice the former Speaker chose to ignore.
Drawing on the third spiritual law of success—the Law of Karma—Olanrewaju noted that every action carries consequences. He criticized Obasa’s tenure as marked by political overreach, constitutional disregard, and efforts to suppress dissent, which ultimately led to his downfall.
The retired General also condemned the imposition of non-indigenous leaders in Lagos State, arguing that such practices undermine the rights of Lagos indigenes and disrupt political harmony. He called for empowering IBILE indigenes to manage the state’s affairs, emphasizing that doing so would bring better governance and accountability.
Obasa’s impeachment, spearheaded by Mojisola Miranda and supported by a 40-member Assembly, comes amidst allegations of financial mismanagement, including a N44 billion scandal that has rocked the Lagos Assembly.
Olanrewaju further urged politicians to learn from the incident, respect constitutional boundaries, and exercise humility in their quest for power.
