Ogun: Murder suspect arrested while attempting to sell victim’s car

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 25-year-old Ayomide Oluwadamilare, a murder suspect linked to the brutal killing of Mr. Kola Adun, a resident of River Valley Estate in Ojodu Berger, whose decomposing body was discovered in his home.
According to the police, officers responded to a distress call from the Mubarak area in Akute at about 1:00 p.m. on July 7, 2025, reporting a foul stench coming from a residence. Upon arrival at Ogunmoyero Street, River Valley Estate, officers forced entry into the home and found Mr. Adun’s lifeless body on the first floor with multiple stab wounds. Bloodstains were observed at the scene, and his Toyota Camry, bearing registration number AAA 193 GC, was missing.
Suspicion arose on the morning of July 6 when a friend of the deceased arrived to pick him up for church. After discovering the gate was locked from the outside and receiving no response to phone calls—later found to be switched off—the friend alerted the victim’s family and reported the matter to the Ojodu Abiodun Police Station.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ayomide, a former driver to the deceased, had unlawfully entered the residence on Saturday, July 5, 2025, with the intent to rob. He reportedly stabbed Mr. Adun to death before fleeing the scene with his vehicle.
A breakthrough in the case came when Ayomide attempted to sell the stolen car to a dealer in Ijede, Ikorodu. The car dealer, sensing something was amiss, contacted the police. Officers promptly arrested the suspect at the point of sale.
The body of the deceased has been evacuated to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu for autopsy.
The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation and prosecution.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the development in a statement on behalf of the command.
