Ogun police deploy personnel for Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North bye-election
The Ogun State Police Command says it has deployed adequate personnel for the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency bye-election scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025.
In a statement signed on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the Command said the deployment is aimed at ensuring a safe and secure environment before, during, and after the polls.
Briefing election duty officers at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo stressed the need for professionalism, civility, and neutrality in the discharge of duties. He said the Command is working with other security agencies and has received additional manpower from Zone 2 Command, Lagos, to implement robust security measures against election-related violence.
The police reminded voters that electoral laws prohibit campaigning, vote-buying, distribution of flyers, and display of political stickers at polling areas.
It also announced that movement in the election areas will be restricted from midnight to 4:00 p.m. on August 16. Patrol vehicles, stop-and-search teams, and other operational units will be strategically deployed to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
The Command urged voters to cooperate with security personnel, warning that anyone attempting to disrupt the process would face decisive action.
For immediate assistance during the election, the police provided the following helplines: 0915 957 8888, 0803 860 9898, and 0813 984 4740.
