Ogun police raise alarm over surge in missing persons cases

The Ogun State Police Command has raised concerns over a recent spike in reports of missing persons across all age groups in the state, describing the trend as alarming.

In a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the Command revealed that while some missing individuals have been located, a significant number remain unaccounted for, prompting the need for increased public vigilance.

The statement emphasized the Command’s commitment to raising awareness about the troubling development, urging residents to adopt safety measures to reduce their vulnerability.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, has outlined measures to ensure residents are well-informed about these pressing security concerns,” the statement read.

Key among the measures is a call for parents to avoid allowing their children to use commercial transportation services operated by unknown individuals. This caution is based on insights gathered from rescued persons, highlighting the risks involved.

Furthermore, the Command advised young people to activate digital communication and location-sharing features on their mobile devices while traveling, particularly during distressing situations, to ensure quick assistance.

The Ogun State Police Command reiterated its dedication to community safety and urged all residents to cooperate by prioritizing personal security and remaining vigilant.

The Command assured the public that efforts are ongoing to address the situation and protect lives and property across the state.
