Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has expressed frustration after the Ogun State government allegedly sealed off his bar and hotel in Sango-Ota.
According to multiple reports, the properties were sealed due to alleged violations of building regulations.
Sharing a notice of contravention on Instagram, the singer claimed that the Ogun State Planning and Development Authority carried out the enforcement action against his businesses.
Portable further alleged that during the operation, over 20 of his customers and workers were arrested and detained, while alcoholic beverages from his bar were confiscated.
The singer took to Instagram to narrate his ordeal, stating, “I believe in Eledumare. Nobody can fool me, Omo Olohun.”
Continuing, he wrote, **“They took more than 20 people, including artists and customers. They seized cars, bikes, and even people’s phones and belongings.
“They also sealed my new, uncompleted building and hotel. Why? This is my hometown, and we didn’t resist. They even confiscated the drinks we were selling at Odogwu Bar and Food. Why? The government should look into this.
“I use this place for booking events and shows, not just for selling drinks. I am promoting and helping people here.
“The government should ask around—I provided electricity everywhere. Before the government started road repairs, I called on them to help us. Why would they do this to my property, which I use to feed my family? They later came to attack me where I was, but God is greater than them.”
As of the time of this report, the Ogun State Planning and Development Authority has yet to respond to the allegations.
