Okada riders attack policemen in Lagos, kill one
A Policeman was on Wednesday afternoon killed at Cele Bus Stop along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos during a duel with commercial motorcyclists popularly known as Okada riders.
Shortly after the officer was murdered, the Okada riders, numbering about 100, ran towards Mile 2 end.
Many took to their heels to avoid being attacked by the weapon-wielding motorcyclists.
Convoy of policemen was reinforced to combat the Okada riders.
Confirming the incident, spokesman for Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said that two suspects have been arrested while forty-one motorcycles were impounded.
Hundeyin said that the police would not be deterred in enforcing the Transportation Laws in the state.
