Olopade urges sports secretaries to embrace innovation

The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has urged Secretary-Generals of various sports federations to adopt innovative strategies to boost performance and drive sports development in Nigeria.

Speaking during a strategic meeting with the federation secretaries on Tuesday in Abuja, Olopade commended their professionalism and potential, describing them as some of the brightest minds in Nigerian sports.

He, however, emphasized the need for continuous improvement, encouraging them to think creatively and develop new ideas to enhance their output and elevate the performance of their respective federations.

“I believe you can do more and be more dynamic by thinking outside the box. My office remains open to all of you for collaboration,” Olopade said.

He also reminded the secretaries of the Commission’s “Reset, Refocus, and Relaunch” mandate, urging them to apply it in shaping the global image of Nigerian athletes.

Highlighting the importance of athlete welfare, the DG cited the creation of the Elite and Podium Board, which is tasked with grading top athletes and providing training grants based on performance levels.
