Olopoeyan alleges Makinde’s involvement in Agidigbo FM funding

A chieftain of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan, has alleged that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, provided financial support to popular broadcaster and Agidigbo FM owner, Oriyomi Hamzat, to establish his radio station.

Olopoeyan made the allegation during a political programme on 32FM, where he also questioned the source of funding used in setting up the media outfit.

He claimed that he was instrumental in introducing Hamzat to Governor Makinde during the buildup to the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State.

According to him, Oriyomi Hamzat did not have the financial capacity to establish a radio station at the early stage of his media career, insisting that his rise came with unexplained financial backing.

He challenged the broadcaster to publicly explain how he was able to fund the establishment of Agidigbo FM, stating that the project required significant capital investment.

Olopoeyan’s comments have sparked political reactions in Oyo State, particularly as Hamzat has recently been linked with emerging political conversations ahead of the 2027 governorship election under the Accord Party.

As of the time of filing this report, Oriyomi Hamzat has not publicly responded to the allegations.
