The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on eligible indigenes of Oyo State to take advantage of the ongoing nationwide constable recruitment by the Nigeria Police Force.
He made the appeal while receiving the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tunde Lakanu, during a courtesy visit to the Olubadan’s Palace in Ibadan.
Oba Ladoja stressed the importance of policing in maintaining law and order, noting that traditional institutions should help spread awareness about the recruitment across communities in the state.
He also pledged the support of chiefs and local leaders in mobilising qualified candidates.
Earlier, Lakanu revealed that the recruitment exercise aims to enlist 50,000 constables nationwide, but noted low participation from the South-West.
The deputy inspector general urged traditional rulers to help promote the exercise at the grassroots while highlighting the potential benefits of state policing in Nigeria, adding that it could improve security if properly implemented.
