Oyo govt seizes 60 motorcycles over QR code jacket breaches

The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority has confiscated no fewer than 60 commercial motorcycles for violating the state’s QR code jacket directive.

Confirming the development, the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, said the exercise is aimed at creating a safer and more organised transport system.

The operation, which took place in parts of Ibadan including Mokola, Gate Bus Stop, Idi-Ape, and Iwo Road, is part of efforts to enhance security, regulate operations, and ensure accountability among riders.

Chairman of the Agency, Adekoya Adesagba (retd.), expressed concern over continued disregard for the policy, noting that non-compliance endangers both passengers and other road users.

He further warned that enforcement would persist until operators fully comply with the regulations.

Meanwhile, the Agency’s General Manager, Adeoye Adekola, cautioned riders against using fake QR code jackets and advised them to register through approved government platforms, stressing that offenders would be prosecuted.

The agency added that the enforcement drive would be expanded to other parts of the state.
