Oluremi Tinubu flags off palliatives distribution in Northern states

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday flagged off the distribution of palliatives to vulnerable households across 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The flag-off ceremony, held in Kaduna, marks the beginning of the distribution of 100 trucks of rice and a total sum of ₦1.2 billion to support Muslim communities in the region.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady said the initiative was a gesture of solidarity with Muslim faithful as they prepare for the festive season. She described Kaduna as a model of peaceful coexistence across religious and ethnic lines and urged communities across the North to sustain unity.
“I appeal to all our communities across the North to continue to live together in love and with mutual respect,” she said, calling on religious and community leaders to continue promoting peace and harmony.
Mrs. Tinubu noted that the intervention aligns with the broader reforms of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which she said are aimed at delivering long-term benefits for Nigerians.
She explained that the distribution would be coordinated by state committees already constituted to ensure transparency and effective delivery of the items.
According to her, the intervention mirrors a similar exercise carried out in December 2025 for Christian communities in northern Nigeria, adding that the current effort fulfills a commitment to support Muslim populations as well.
Several political leaders present at the event, including Mai Mala Buni, Hope Uzodimma, and Uba Sani, commended the administration’s development efforts and attention to the region.
